“What was that?”
I turned around just in time to see that Rose had passed out on the floor. I glared at the others as they gathered around her.
“Who dealt it?” I yelled, scanning the group. The small room was already getting hotter, and there was no fan, and if the air conditioning was on it would be doing more harm than good. Why were we even here in the first place? I think it had something to do with the group assignment. Right now there was no light, and I couldn’t think straight.
“Someone please open the window.” I said, fanning myself with a magazine. Jide had already carried Kate to the desk by the windowsill in a bid to revive her. I tried to assist by fanning her with the magazine.
“She’s still out cold.” Chidinma said in a worried voice.
“Don’t panic— we’ll get her up soon.” I said, trying to sound like I had everything under control.
Ebuka hadn’t said anything all this while. He came up to where Jide put Rose and shrugged. “I’m sorry guys but this one is needed.”
“What are you talking ab— Haba Ebuka what was that for?!”
Ebuka laughed as we all scrambled to get away from the new stench wave. It was worse than the first. I was tempted to jump out of the window… but we were on the third floor… and I’ve never jumped out of a window before.
Just then we heard someone cough.
“Gosh what happened? EW!”
It was our turn to laugh as we watched Rose kick Ebuka in the gut in an attempt to get off the window seat.
“You could have at least said you dealt it earlier.” Chidinma said as we helped him up.
“I… I didn’t.” Ebuka said while attempting to catch his breath.
“But… You just—”
“I just figured that if one wave could knock her out, then maybe one could bring her back.”
We just stared at him blankly.
“Like two negatives making a positive” he said with a shrug.
Ebuka is such a weirdo.
